Saving a Wood Floor from Water Damage
Can wood floors be saved when wet?
This floor was got wet and it didn't seem like a big deal but after the homeowners talked to their insurance agent they changed their minds. Wood floors can soak up a lot of water and the water can be trapped underneath in the air flow grooves. Their agent referred them to SERVPRO of Auburn / Enumclaw to have it checked.
We arrived and noticed right away that there was more water than the homeowners anticipated. We started by drying the top but also added air movement and dehumidification underneath the floor. By drying the top and the bottom at the same time we were able to save the floor from being damaged further.
